(March 23rd, 2020) Precautions during the COVID-19 Virus: We are currently operating all of our programs by phone only and will set up by phone interviews to apply. Our office is not open to the public, but we will continue to operate this important program to respond to the needs of our community. We expect to grow the financial assistance available and to add additional CEAC appointments each week. CEAC will meet weekly by ZOOM meeting and checks will continue to be mailed weekly. CEAC is currently prioritizing applications for rental assistance and mortgage payments. We will be prioritizing those impacted by the medical and economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic as well. Currently, we are asking that people call or email for an appointment. In the coming days we will be publishing an online form that allows you to apply for assistance online.

Please note you can also apply for emergency energy assistance (EOC) for past due electric or heat over the phone as well.

The Community Emergency Assistance Coalition (CEAC) is a collaborative multi-agency effort aimed at providing homeless prevention and community stability through one-time emergency assistance to individuals and families in La Plata/San Juan Counties who are facing near term financial crisis.

Appointments are required.  Please call or email Liz Stellrecht Housing Solutions at 970-259-1086 x22  to set up your appointment. Leave a message and we will respond to set up an appointment ASAP.   Please bring a completed application with you. Download application

Thank you so very much for awarding me funds to fix my car, making it safe and reliable. This grant means the world to us, giving me the needed mobility to work, see to the needs of my daughter, and importantly, lifting tremendous pressure off us financially.  As you may have determined from my grant request, I have been struggling to provide for us and become self-sufficient. Your gift has given me the ability to succeed and focus on what is critical  – raising a happy, healthy, beautiful little girl.          –N.D.

We are a hardworking family trying to survive and thrive in Durango.  Recently, my husband lost his job.  Although he found new employment fairly quickly, the gap in income caused us to get behind on our bills.  I had to make the difficult choice of feeding my family instead of paying bills!  Fortunately for us, the CEAC program was available.  We are forever grateful for the help with paying our mortgage for one month, which allowed us some ‘breathing room’ to get caught up on all of the other bills.  The following month, we were able to make our mortgage payment–it was still late, but we were able to pay it!  We have CEAC to thank for that, as well as the very hard-working folks at Housing Solutions for the Southwest.                           –A.V.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude and appreciation to the CEAC Committee.  I work a full time and a part time job.  Even with both of the incomes, I found myself struggling to make ends meet.  By making myself and my daughter stick to a strict budget, we were able to pay our basic bills.  But when my daughter fell ill, we were stretched beyond our means.  I filled out the CEAC application on a Monday, and all the while I was treated with respect and without judgment. I was informed I would be getting CEAC’s help on Friday of the same week.  It was a great relief for me to know that I would be able to travel to work and back home safely.   Durango residents are blessed to have such a resource for those who really need a little or a lot of help.  I am forever grateful.   –P.W.
